JOSÉ LUIS CUEVAS

José Luis Cuevas Novelo, was born in Mexico City on February 26, 1934 and died on July 3, 2017. He was a Mexican painter, draftsman, writer, engraver, sculptor and illustrator. Cuevas was one of the main figures of the Generation of the Rupture of Mexican Muralism and one of the most outstanding representatives of Neofigurativism.

The artist, who enjoyed national and international prestige and who elevated the name of Mexico
in the world, won a place in the history of art, as one of the most outstanding exponents of drawing, at the level of the spanish Pablo Picasso .
