AGUSTÍN CASTRO LÓPEZ

Born (Mexico City, 1958) Agustín Castro began his studies at the esteemed National School of Painting, Sculpture and Engraving “La Esmeralda”. Agustín Castro López is perhaps one of the young painters who most dominate pictorial language with exceptional maturity. His works emphasize his handling of the drawing, and his compositional resources, – joint diverse techniques from the photography to the figurative neo-expressionism.

Castro Lopez’s paintings are also the product of another consumption, that of fully identifiable cinematographic or plastic images, which he transmutes through an appropriate artistic appropriation. Castro is also the creator of the Painting Workshop of Azcapotzalco that brought 6 artists out of the neo-Mexican movement. Castro has exhibited individually and collectively in various galleries and museums nationally and internationally.
