GABRIEL MACOTELA

Born (1954) in Mexico City, Macotela started his studies at the School of Painting and Sculpture, “La Esmeralda” and completed his training at the
National School of Plastic Arts, UNAM. 

In 1977 Macotela founded Cocina Ediciones and in 1985 the bookstore “El Archivero”. Starting in 1976, Macotela begun to have solo exhibitions in Mexico City and Monterrey. In 1989 he presented “Characters and His Shadow” at the Consulate of Mexico in Barcelona, Spain and in 1990 at the Cultural Center of Mexico in Paris, France. 

Macotela has participated in innumerable collective exhibitions in Mexico and abroad, both in painting/sculpture, as well as artist books in places such as France, India, Cuba, Brazil, the United States, Germany and Spain.
