Founded in Puerto Vallarta in 2001 by Jean Pierre Renucci, originally from the Mediterranean island of Corsica, Galería Corsica was born from a clear vision: to bring exceptional contemporary Mexican art to the Mexican Pacific. Before establishing the gallery, Renucci built an extensive career as a curator, acquiring exclusive works for major banking firms in Monaco. His international experience, combined with his deep appreciation for Mexican creativity, laid the foundation for what would become one of the region’s most established art destinations.

What began as a modest downtown gallery soon evolved through growing recognition and success, expanding first into a larger headquarters in Puerto Vallarta and later to Los Cabos. Today, Galería Corsica’s flagship occupies a historic estate on Guadalupe Sánchez Street, a space rich in local architectural character that once housed the home and studio of celebrated artist Jesús Botello.

The gallery represents more than 100 creators, bringing together established masters and significant contemporary voices. Its exhibition spaces showcase the work of artists such as José Luis Cuevas, Jazzamoart, Vladimir Cora—disciple of Rufino Tamayo—and prominent local talents including Ada Colorina. Monumental sculpture is also central to Corsica’s identity, with works by co-founder José Villavicencio taking a prominent place in the gallery’s courtyards. His iconic Lluvia has become part of Puerto Vallarta’s cultural landscape through its permanent installation on the Malecón.

In 2022, Abraham Valle joined Galería Corsica as Associate Director, marking a new chapter in the gallery’s evolution. Originally from Morelia and trained in design and advertising in Mexico City, Valle developed his passion for visual art from an early age, including his experience at the Alfredo Zalce Contemporary Art Museum. Today, he brings a new generational perspective to Corsica, combining creative vision and operational innovation with the gallery’s established legacy.

Together, Renucci and Valle travel throughout Mexico’s artistic circuits, discovering new talent, nurturing relationships with artists and collectors, and continuously evolving the gallery’s program. Their collaboration represents a meeting of experience and new vision—preserving Corsica’s heritage while ensuring its relevance for the future.

Across its locations in Puerto Vallarta and Los Cabos, Galería Corsica encompasses approximately 900 square meters of exhibition space, establishing a distinctive presence in the contemporary Mexican art landscape.
